    US Army Patrols Manual

This manual is aimed to share knowledge about patrols and to teach personnel about the different types of patrols there are. When leaving the base, state what patrol you are doing. This will improve RP and make sure that there is a set goal that can be accomplished. All patrols should keep good comms with HQ in order to be effective.

    Standing Patrols

Standing patrols are used to patrol territory that is already held. This to keep a presence in help territories to deter the enemy from exploiting weaknesses in defensive areas.

Manpower: Section Strength ( 4 - 6 people ) [ numbers lowered for smaller player base]

Possible Tasks: Patrol around held territories, deter enemy attack, hearts & minds w/ civilian population.

    Roaming patrols

Roaming patrols are short patrols around a defended position; mesa example (base). These patrols are to watch out for enemies & to check defensive positions.

    Manpower: 2 - 3 people

Possible Tasks: Check defensive positions are in good order, ensure no un-authorised personnel are near base.

    Combat Patrols

Combat patrols are when you are looking for a fight, raids and ambushes are usual tasks you would conduct in a combat patrol. Combat patrols are better equip & heavily armed.

    Manpower: 6 - 8 people

Possible Tasks: Raid enemy compounds, ambush enemy supply lines, attack weak enemy defensive positions.

    reconnaissance (recce) patrol

A recce patrol is used to obtain information, this information could vary from weak enemy positions, to enemy movements. Recce patrols should avoid contact as they are low in manpower and less equip to deal with contact from the enemy.

    Manpower: 3 - 4 people

Possible Tasks: Scout enemy Positions, Scout enemy movement, obtain intel from civilian population.
